de Young Museum in San Francisco

Today we were able to view Girl With a Pearl Earring by Vermeer at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.  We were unable to take pictures, and this is the best we could do.  The painting was a lot smaller than I envisioned it, but it is absolutely beautiful to behold.

Two years ago we did a big study on Paul Revere during our Heroes Quest year, and it was a nice surprise to see some of his works at the museum.  Paul Revere was not only a brave minuteman, but he also was an accomplished silversmith.   I have no idea what this piece is, and it is not listed that I can recall.

This is a tankard.  I suppose this is the equivalent to today's super size.
